Letters from the Reservation: You Ain't Artsier Than Me
Posted: 12:00 AM, Fri, Nov 14 2008
Yo, yo, yo, yo. YO! Ladies and gentlemens. It has been brought to my
attention that there are some sweet art-related events happening this
weekend, and that some of you enjoy events of that nature. That being
said, let's mob the S-word out of these.
====(1)
The first is Saturday 11/15. It's called, The Underground, and it's a multi-media Phantasmagasm of THINGS!!!!
We're doing a shuttle from The Goose, leaving at 8 and 10, and bringing people back....uhhhh...later.
Here's the event description in the words of those who know best...the people putting it on:
The Mad Society Project, Project Drum and Monster of Debauchery invite you to The Underground.
In addition to live art, music and dancing from 7p on, the line-up includes:
8p - Baobob Tree Press Spoken Word
9p - Itef, DJ Cavem from Moetavation
10p - Kissidugu West African Dance Troop
11p - X-Clan's Brother J
**Be a part of the live filming of Brother J's new music video, directed by Black Diamond Productions.
12p - The Night Kitchen
1p - Guest DJs til the party dies
$10 Cover, Show is ALL AGES with a 21+ section.
All proceeds benefit Kissidugu, a non-profit West African percussion and dance school.
If
you don’t have a designated driver, or would like to support the basics
fund, they'll be offering multiple trips to and from the show. The bus
will depart from the Goose (Pleasant and Broadway) at 8p and 10p.
Return trips will be scheduled based upon demand.
A map for driving directions is available in the photos section below.

The
second is on Sunday, and it's through CU, which is apparently some sort
of University here in Boulder. From what I understand, it's a pretty
famous school. Anyway, the event is called The Good, The Bad, and The
Fugly. Basically it's a party on campus to showcase a bunch of the
students' artwork...which means that (a) we're going to see a bunch of
artwork, and (b) we can meet a bunch of people who are into helping all
you artist types get your work out there.
Here's the event description on that one:
The Student Artists Society Presents:
"THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE FUGLY"
We
believe that it's time to start giving the student body of CU Artists a
voice and so we're creating events and activities to foster a strong
artistic community at CU. The first main event is a open display of
undergraduate work entitled 'The Good, The Bad and the Fugly'.
(because, of course, Art is subjective) At this show we believe in
showing the wide range of work in the department, hopefully creating an
open table for discussion. All students, Faculty and community members
are welcome.
There will be a gorgeous buffet table created
(practically as an additional piece in the show) by Nicole (founding
member of the group) providing food and beverages for all.

Actually, there isn't a 3, except to say goodbye for now, and hopefully we can kick it this weekend!
Lovin' ya with the quad-chamber.
Dustin.
