Road Trip to Austin for The National Poetry Slam

Road trip to Austin for the 2007 National Slam Championships to help Denver defend its title.

Let's rep Denver and Slam in style, by roll-rolling down the highway with a vengeance in a 1975 MCI-8 party bus.  Driving through the night.  Keg in the back.  Beds for the weak of heart.  Pisser for the weak of stomach/bladder.  Poetry and music, love and happiness for all.  If you want to go, you gots ta let me know

Tentative schedule:

Leaving Boulder/Denver on 7/9/07 6 PM-ish

Arriving in Austin on 7/10 3PM-ish

Returning to Boulder/Denver on 7/12 or early morning on 7/13.

(times and dates are subject to change slightly based on Slam event schedule, and requests from road trippers).

Roundtrip miles: approx. 2000

2000 miles @ 5mpg = 400 Gallons::::(yes, 5mpg.  But, if we take enough people, we actually save gas, and thereby the Earth.  Additionally, teacher says that every time you carpool, a terrorist hugs a bunny)

400 Gallons x $3.2/Gallon = $1280

Keg cups and ice = $60 = $1340

Bus and driver fee= $500 (donated to The Basics Fund)

Total cost = $1840

Bus carries 18 comfortably (a relative term), sleeps 8.  Sleeping spots are first come first served.
