How do I know if I'm a member?

And, How do I know if you know that I am a member?

Are you confused by our membership system?  So are we.  Thus, we have decided to attempt to try to make it a little less complicated.  This is the result of  that attempt:.

Below is a link to a semi-complete, fairly current, color-coded list of all of the first and last names of everyone who is or ever has been a member of The Basics Fund.

The Basics Fund Member Database

A.   If your name is on this document, skip ahead to "B."  If your name is not on this document, then one of the following two statements is true:

I.  You have not successfully completed the quick and easy process of becoming a member, and must do so in order to ride the bus.  Below is a link to a set of thorough, easy-to-follow instructions on how to complete the quick and easy process of becoming a member.

Instructions on How to Become a Member

II.  You have successfully completed the process of becoming a member, but we have not yet entered you into our database.

a.  The most common reason for this is that this is your first time riding as a member and you paid your 1-Day Trial Membership Dues online by reserving your spot on a bus, and we simply haven't had a chance to update it yet.

If this is the case, don't worry.  Just print and bring your reservation receipt, as well as signed copies of the first 2 pages of the Membership Application (follow the link below).  If you are unable to print and bring signed copies of the Membership Application, we will most likely have extra copies available at check-in, but doing it that way is frowned upon because it slows everyone down.

b.  The 2nd and 3rd most common reasons are that became a monthly or trial member a while ago, but we still haven't gotten around to entering your info, or we forgot.  If this is the case, then please let us know so that you don't have to complete membership application again.  You can contact us by emailing membership@thebasicsfund.org, or by calling 830.299.PROB.

B.   If your name is on the spreadsheet, you are doing well. Just check on the following two things:

I.  Ensure that your membership dues are paid for the month or day that you wish to ride the bus.  To verify this, look at the, "Membership Begins" and "Membership Expires" dates.  If they include the date that you would like to ride a bus,  then your dues are up to date.  To make things even easier, we have colored the text green if your membership dues are paid for today's date, and red if your membership is inactive because we do not show your dues as paid.  If your membership is shown as in active, one of the following two statements is true:

a.  You have not paid your dues for the date in question.  If this is the case, you can either:

i.  Pay for your monthly membership online at thebasicsfund.org by following the link below.

ii. Pay for a 1-day trial membership by following the following instructions.  Either:
  • Reserve your spot on a bus online.   Start at the events calendar at thebasicsfund.org, then find the bus you are interested in.
  • Or, if online reservations are not available for this event, please email reservations@thebasicsfund.org, or call 830.299.PROB to reserve and pay for your Trial Membership.
b.  You have recently paid for a trial membership, and due to the fact that this spreadsheet is updated manually, we may not have updated it yet.

If this is the case, don't worry.  Just print and bring your reservation receipt, as well as signed copies of the first 2 pages of the Membership Application (follow the link below).  If you are unable to print and bring signed copies of the Membership Application, we will most likely have extra copies available at check-in, but doing it that way is frowned upon because it slows everyone down.

c.  The other two possibilities are that paid your monthly or trial membership dues a while ago, but we still haven't gotten around to entering your info...or we forgot.  If this is the case, then please let us know so that check-in goes smoothly.  You can contact us by emailing membership@thebasicsfund.org, or by calling 830.299.PROB.

II.  Ensure that we have record of your Membership Application being on file with us.  To verify this, look at the, "Signed Membership Application On File (Y/N)" column.  If this column is marked with a "Y", then we have record of you having the application on file, and you do not need to worry about it anymore.  If it is marked with an "N," then we have not recorded that it is on file.  This means that either:

a.  We have not received your signed Membership Application, in which case you must either:

i.  Print it out, complete it, scan it, email it back to membership@thebasicsfund.org.  We will send a confirmation once we have received it and updated the Membership Database.

ii.  Print it out, complete it, and bring it with you to check-in the next time you ride.

iii.  Be lazy and slow everyone down by completing one of our extra copies at check-in.

b.  We have received your application, but have not recorded it because either we haven't gotten to it yet, or we forgot.  In either case, let us know by emailing membership@thebasicsfund.org, or by calling 830.299.PROB.
